Slump is over, Ovechkin scores

washcaps: Ovechkin, Chimera and Hendricks on the loss to the Wild

Good team effort in the 3rd, but a little too late. Caps 1, Wild 2. At least Ovechkin's slump is over, Ovi finally has scored a goal.

Ovi's stats after 2nd:
Total ice 12:33, 12 shifts, average 01:02, PP 03:50, even 08:41, 3 shots on goal, 1 attempt blocked, 1 missed, 3 hits, 1 giveaway

Final stats:
1 goal, +1, Total ice 20:43, 19 shifts, average 01:05, PP 03:50, even 16:51, 4 shots on goal, 4 attempt blocked, 1 missed, 4 hits, 1 giveaway

Well, I'd hardly say the slump is over. He still isn't himself and that goes beyond the struggles of the 1st line.

Too bad the rest of the team's offense is slumping and has slumped for most of the year.

The slump is NOT over, certainly not on the basis of only one goal in a game the Caps lost. Ovie has shown brief flashes of skill, but overall he is definitely not himself so far this season. Whether the smog in Moscow during the summer hindered his training and conditioning shouldn't IMO still be an issue. After training camp and nearly a month of regular season games, Ovie should have shaken off the cobwebs by now. Something isn't right, something is out of sync. I hope he solves the problem soon, and starts to look and play like the Great 8 again. Once Ovie gets going, the rest of the team's offense should follow his lead and catch fire.
