Varly is gone, but still has some fans who follow him. Our reader Aimee asked me if I could translate the interview from KP.RU by Artem Lisovsky. And it is an interesting read, besides it has a story about Alex Ovechkin.
Here it is:

The saying should be changed to "Swearing like Bruce Boudreau!" :-)
TJ, thanks so much for translating for me. I enjoyed reading about his experience in his first couple games in Hershey, the stalker Caps fans who found his apartment and brought him birthday gifts, and Ovi's practical joke. The joke didn't really make sense in google translate, so thanks for translating!
Thanks for posting this. I really hope Semyon does well in Colorado, I think he will. Giguere plays very similar to him and have had the same injury problems in the past, so I think he'll he a very good influence on Varlamov.
I like that joke, I might have to use it on my dad's kids! haha! "Slava's mad, you better go see him!" They'd probably cry though, so I better not.
I don't get why Bruce would believe him though. I get the players, but if Leonsis had a problem with him, why would he get Ovi to talk to him? haha!
Glossed over a lot about his contract negotiations.
At least he admits he was an SOB his first year. He mellowed some, but that side of him came out again when he wanted things his way. He still has growing up to do.
SO excited to see Varly in the burgundy & blue. It's been far too long since we've had a legitimate #1 netminder. The interview was very insightful, thanks for translating!
"He's like the shark in Jaws, circling in the water waiting for blood. They should play that music from the movie – da-duh, da-duh, da-duh - when he's out on a shift. He doesn't just go after loose pucks, he hunts them down."

Just wanted to thank you for posting my book on your blog, which I consulted a fair bit while researching and writing the book. In particular, the comprehensive list of links on alexovetjkin.blogspot.com is the best library on Ovechkin material available anywhere.

See! He is a nice guy hahaha! XD
Now, thanks to Varly we know that April fools is one of Ovie's favorite days.
Thanks for posting this TJ.
I have no hard feelings toward Varly, and wish him good health and great success with Colorado.
Oh Ovie...you are a prankster extraordinaire. I hope one day to read about an epic April Fools Day joke played on you LOL. :)
